Customer issues

Biospringer is a food manufacturer and the world leader in the manufacture of natural yeasts. The company has two sites in France, one in the Paris region and the other in Alsace. In this case study, we are looking at the first site, located in Maison Alfort.

As water is an essential element in the production of natural yeast, Biospringer has opted to use boreholes to guarantee water quality. This decision was based on economic considerations, as well as on the observation that the water in the drinking water network did not meet the quality standards required for production.

Biospringer sought imaGeau’s expertise to guarantee the security of their water supply and to ensure that it would be able to maintain its commitment to yeast production over the next 10 years.

The Imageau solution

Boreholes and medium-term solutions

Biospringer has several boreholes, which guarantee access to a water resource for all yeast production at the Maison Alfort site. Their role is therefore essential.

We began by carrying out an assessment of the condition of the boreholes, which highlighted their deterioration. There was therefore a risk that they would no longer be able to reach the flow rates needed for production in the next few years.

Faced with this situation, we presented a number of medium-term security solutions. Biospringer opted for the creation of new boreholes, to be equipped and commissioned, in order to prevent any impact on future yeast production.

Project management

ImaGeau acted as prime contractor for the construction of the two new boreholes, work on which was recently completed. We were responsible for :

  • Defining in detail all the work to be carried out
  • Consulting the various companies applying for the project
  • Analysing the technical and financial bids
  • Monitoring the execution of the work once the contractors had been selected.

Our intervention thus consisted of an engineering approach within the framework of a project management mission, aimed at guaranteeing the smooth running of the project through to completion.
